Conversations on
Living Well and Dying Well

A six-week community journey

CURRENT PROGRAMME

AUTUMN 2026
2 November - 7 December 2026

There are conversations that every one of us will one day have.
Some begin with illness. Some with loss. Some with growing older. Some with a question we have carried quietly for years.
These workshops offer an opportunity to begin those conversations together.
Over six weeks, we will cross six thresholds.

The pilot programme is generously funded by the Living Well Dying Well Trust.

1. Meeting Mortality

The First Threshold

Meeting what has always been part of life.

Death is woven into every human life, yet many of us have little opportunity to speak about it until it arrives at our own door. Together we begin exploring how our families, culture and personal experiences have shaped our relationship with death, opening the possibility for a more conscious, compassionate and life-affirming relationship with mortality.

2. Meeting the Unknown

The SecondThreshold

Learning to stay in relationship with fear.

Fear of death is one of the deepest forces shaping human life. Sometimes it is obvious; more often it quietly lives beneath our choices, relationships and the conversations we postpone.
Together we begin exploring this hidden landscape with honesty and compassion, discovering how acknowledging fear can gradually transform the way we meet uncertainty, change and the unknown.

3. Being Alongside

The Third Threshold

The quiet art of accompaniment.

Some conversations ask very little of us except our presence.

Together we explore how to listen deeply, welcome silence, ask thoughtful questions and remain alongside another person without trying to fix, reassure or take away their experience.

These simple yet profound skills can transform the way we accompany one another through illness, grief and the final stages of life.

4. Living with Loss

The Fourth Threshold

Learning what grief asks of us.

Our culture often encourages us to move beyond grief as quickly as possible. Yet grief is one of the ways love continues to speak.

Together we explore grief as a deeply human capacity - one that can soften the heart, deepen compassion and remind us of our belonging to one another.

5. Preparing with Care

The Fifth Threshold

Preparing with care.

Preparing for the end of life is both practical and deeply personal.

Together we explore advance care planning, end-of-life wishes and the conversations that can bring greater clarity, confidence and peace of mind for ourselves and for those we love.

6. Living More Fully

The Sixth Threshold

Returning to life more fully.

Every encounter with mortality has the potential to change the way we live.

As our journey comes to a close, we reflect on what we have discovered together, what matters most, and how we might carry these conversations into our families, our communities and our everyday lives.
